Subject: Importance of art fundamentals.
Question: I don’t understand what people talk about in art tutorials.
Short Answer: Practice art fundamentals.
When I first made my ‘big move’ to improve my art, I looked for the highest level and best tutorials available on the internet.
I remember it was about the time Dave rapoza illustrator and concept artist put out his bog witch gum road tutorial which the line art part made some sense to me but the 2nd part of it about realistic render sound like another language to me, maybe some of you can relate to this feeling. Then the doubts come in I have no talent, I will never be good etc you know the rest. After studying my foundations for awhile I watched the same video again.
What!? I couldn’t believe it, I understood it, somehow improving my foundations has unlocked the next level for me. Turns out the hardest part was ego and the discipline to keep grinding the fundamentals.
Next time your brain tries to talk you out of drawing circles and cubes try asking your brain this “leonardo da vinci drew tones of circles and cubes, are you better then him?” Until I’m better then him I’d draw the hell out of them circles and cubes. Keep going. Until next time.
I’d talk more on fundamentals and how I train about them soon, stay tuned.
Until Next Time,

Hello Folks, Studying value is one of the most important task as an artist, And even more so as a tattoo artist since we don’t have full access to full values when we are working on skin. So today we’re going to do a mid tone study.
