Continuing from last time. I’ve did a painted study on one of frank’s viking Conan piece ‘The Snow Giants’ it was the Cover to Conan of Cimmeria by Robert E Howard, published by Lancer books (New York 1969). It was Oil on academy board 16”x 20”.
Ink wash skull study.
Subject: Ink wash training.
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’d know that ink brush drawing is all the fuzz now since kim jung gi got poplar. Honestly I’m very late to the hype train, or I didn’t cared enough, yet I saw some videos of people doing it and it looks like the most fun thing in the world, so I’ve started to mess around with it, These are my first attempts. And the post about my set up.
Ideas on improving shading(drawing and tattoo)
-Subject:Shading tips.
Finishing up a tattoo design today. It’s a big shading piece. found some useful ideas on the way doing it, hopefully will be helpful for you as well, Let’s go over the step by step quickly.
1.Basic underline. The ideas of the monsters are given by the client, The fun part is to compose the four armed monster at the right, The action pose is exactly what the client requested, Since the two arms on the right is free, I’ve decided to make them expressive, Giving ideas what nasty things it will do to the smaller monster when he gets him. Stronger line weight on parts I want you to see.

QUOTES FOR ARTIST EXPLAINED- Epictetus Part 2
-Subject: Art quotes.
Today we have more Epictetus on the plate for our brain to feast on, let’s get into it.
1.’Seek not the good in external things; seek it in yourselves.” This is a great reminder that it’s not the tools that make an artist it’s the artist within us that counts, It’s not that fancy brush you’re not getting or the cool new 30 inch intuos tablet that makes your art good. I bet Kim jung gi still draws very well with a toothpick and some ink. Also I’d like to extend that it’s not the tutorials that make you good, It’s you ultimately going to make yourself good fighting the art fights within yourself.
How far could art advice go.
-Subject: Art advice.
The fact is that we are all different and the path we that worked for each of us would be different. The time required for each person to understand a concept is different. Like we discussed before memory can’t get you too far. Yet you don’t know how many practice or advice you need for you to ‘understand’ the next concept. So what could a piece of advice do for you best? Let’s look into it.
How to start practicing tattoo.
-Subject: tattoo practice.
No matter if you have started apprenticing with a shop or working towards that goal knowing how to practice will just always be beneficial to build your skill set, So lets see how do you start off if you are starting from zero, first I’d assume you already have a machine, If not you can get a tattoo machine online, there are two main kinds coil and rotary. If you are completely new to tattooing getting a rotary would be easier to handle, Coil machines are more geared towards thick lines thus better for old school work, I’s say for the first 1-2 years you’d be working on fake skin(plastic) or you can be a little hardcore and get some pig skin. So you’ve tone your machine what should you do now?
Memorizing vs Understanding.
-Subject: Memory in drawing.
School in Asia is well known for stuffing information down your stomach like a thanks giving turkey. Yet the time period given for you to convert that to long term memory is extremely short. Let alone memory can just get you that far. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to memorize the human form, what shapes are the muscles, Yet when I try to spin the form my memory can’t generate what will it look like visually. I found it much better when I have experience to refer to in my memory. So instead of memorizing facts it’s better to memorize an experience with emotions involved. I think this is the true meaning of the saying ‘It’s better to walk one million miles then read one million books.’

How to create daily content for 30 days.
Subject: The benefits of daily tasks.
This post marks the 30th daily post in a roll, I’ve learnt that it’s important to learn and celebrate from small goals since big goals are made out of a lot of small goals. Actually I plan to create daily content forever! It’s a great habit and my brain now after 30days is automatically wired to create content constantly. It’s a great feeling to have. And now let’s review what did I learn in the process.

What happens after your leap of faith.
-Subject: Mind sets before you leap.
There’s a lot of people talking about the leap of faith and the results after they got to the bottom(or kept flying in the air?) But not much share what happens in the middle. I’m on my 3rd big leap of my life now. It’s more of a psychological challenge more then a physical challenge since unlikely you will get hurt that way(unless your leap of faith is going to become a UFC champion.) Let’s talk about what emotional attacks your mind will throw at you and what mind-set tools you need to fight till the very end.
Stupidity is a choice.
-Subject: Choose to be a growing person.
There’s this little girl in my class that would shout out “I Don’t know how to do my homework.” Before she even look at out take out her homework. Then after she has taken them out I’d ask her to read out the question. She”d say hey I actually know this question, Then she went off until she finds another question which she won’t read and “thinks” she doesn’t know which won”t be long . No one seems to teach thinking at school.
My four FUCKS.
Subject: You can”t get what you don”t want.
If you’ve picked art to spend your life on, chances are it gives you joy and satisfaction. By identifying what you really want as an artist can cut off some times wasters which doesn’t lead to your goal. After a lot of thinking I came up with this sentence’ To create and improve in art as long as I could.’
Your brain is not your friend.
-Subject: Be the master of your brain.
Your brain is not designed to care for your success in life. In fact the opposite, It’s designed to ho;d you back. The brain’s factory programming is pathetic. It’s goal is to keep you safe. Which means don”t do anything dangerous in the gym, It will get you injured. Don”t talk to the girl you like because some non existent cavemans will bash your head. Don”t go outside, dinosaurs will eat you. You get the idea.
